Applying for a role

What each role's application asks for, and how to make it quick to verify.

Overview

Each role has a short application that StatsCentral reviews before the role shows as verified. The questions depend on the kind of work: game officials and team staff give references, media and content roles give a link to their work.

Filling in the application

After you pick a role and click Continue, the page is titled Apply as the role, for example Apply as a referee.

  1. Which sports do you work in — tick every sport you can take on in this role. At least one is required.
  2. Years of experience — in this role. Enter 0 if you're just starting.
  3. Your experience — up to 2,000 characters. Say what's relevant to the role:
    • game officials: the leagues, levels and notable games you've worked
    • media and content: the outlets, events and teams you've covered
    • team staff: the teams, age groups and levels you've worked with
  4. Link to your work — media and content roles only. A portfolio, gallery, channel or published articles, starting with https://.
  5. References — someone who has seen you work, such as a league organiser or head official. StatsCentral may contact them.
  6. Certification (optional) — game officials and team staff only. PDF, JPG or PNG, up to 10 MB.

Click Send application. You go back to your dashboard, where the role shows as Under review.

What each role needs

Game officials Media and content Team staff
Sports, years, experience Required Required Required
Link to your work — Required —
References At least one, required Optional At least one, required
Certification Optional — Optional

A reference needs a Full name and an Email or phone. How they know your work is optional. You can give a second reference too.

Certification

For game officials, a licence, badge or course certificate. For team staff, a coaching licence, first aid or sports medicine certificate. It's optional, but applications with one are quicker to verify.

The file is kept privately: only StatsCentral reviewers can open it. It isn't shown on your profile.

After you send it

The role goes on your profile straight away, marked Under review, and StatsCentral emails you once it's been reviewed. See After you apply.

To make verification quick, give a reference who answers their phone or email, and attach a certification if you have one.

Edge cases

  • "Already has an application" — you have a live application for that role. Find it under Your roles on your dashboard.
  • The link won't save — it must be a full web address starting with http:// or https://.
  • The certification won't upload — check it's a PDF, JPG or PNG under 10 MB.
